Extension Permissions

Chrome extensions require specific permissions to function. This page explains why AliMedia requests each permission and what it's used for. We follow the principle of least privilege - we only request the permissions necessary for AliMedia to work.

Why Permissions Matter

Understanding extension permissions helps you make informed decisions about what extensions to install. We're transparent about why we need each permission and how it's used.

AliMedia Permissions

Access to AliExpress and Alibaba Pages

What it does: Allows AliMedia to access product pages on aliexpress.com and alibaba.com.

Why we need it: To download images and videos, AliMedia needs to read the content of product pages. The extension scans the page to find image and video URLs, then downloads them to your computer.

What we don't do: We don't track your browsing activity, read other websites, or access any pages outside of AliExpress and Alibaba product pages.

Downloads

What it does: Allows AliMedia to download files to your computer.

Why we need it: This permission is required to save downloaded images and videos to your default download folder. Without this permission, AliMedia cannot save files.

What we don't do: We only download files when you explicitly click the download button. We don't download files automatically or without your action.

Storage (if applicable)

What it does: Allows AliMedia to store small amounts of data locally in your browser.

Why we need it: If used, this would store preferences or settings (such as download format preferences) so they persist between browser sessions.

What we don't do: We don't store personal information, browsing history, or sensitive data.

What We Don't Request

AliMedia does NOT request permissions for:

Your browsing history: We don't track or access your browsing history
Other websites: We only access AliExpress and Alibaba product pages
Personal information: We don't request access to your personal data or accounts
Background activity: AliMedia only runs when you interact with it on product pages

Privacy and Security

All permissions are used only for AliMedia's core functionality - downloading images and videos from product pages. We don't use permissions for:

Tracking or analytics
Advertising
Data collection
Any purpose other than downloading media from product pages

You can review AliMedia's permissions at any time:

Open Chrome and go to chrome://extensions
Find AliMedia in the list
Click "Details" to see all permissions
